Most Popular Area Attractions
Covering almost 100 acres, Bush's Pasture Park is a public, botanical playground set in Salem near the Portland metro area. A must-see for history and art fans visiting northwestern Oregon, the park is open daily – and also includes the usual park activities like hiking, picnicking, and skating.
Bush's Pasture Park features the Bush Barn Art Center and Asahel Bush House – found on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Bush Barn also includes the Focus Gallery for local artists, and hosts the annual Salem Art Fair & Festival in July. The park also features the Willamette University's McCulloch Stadium and Spec Keene Stadium.
Opened in 1971, the Enchanted Forest Theme Park is a top destination in central Oregon. Drive in from Salem and enjoy attractions inspired by classic tales like Mother Goose, and Alice in Wonderland at the park’s Storybook Lane district.
Other park districts include English Village, Tofteville Mining Town, and the Summer Comedy Theater. Don’t miss the Big Timber Log Ride – the largest of its kind in the entire Pacific Northwest.
Oregon State Capitol
Built in 1938, the Oregon State Capitol in Salem contains the offices of the Governor, Treasurer, and Secretary of State, as well as the state legislature.
With the addition of photovoltaic panels on the building in 2002, the capitol became the first one that produces solar power.
Some of the power is used to light the 22-foot tall bronze Oregon Pioneer statue on top of the building.

Silver Falls State Park
Found 20 miles east of Salem, Silver Falls State Park is a lush recreation area in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon.
With over 9,000 acres of land and Oregon's largest state park, there are plenty of walking trails, hiking trails, horseback riding trails and bike trails, to satisfy everyone.
Lace up your hiking boots to trek along the Canyon Trail to view one of the park's beautiful 10 waterfalls.
Hike along the Silver Creek to reach South Falls, the park's most visited falls, to see the 177-foot high.

Established in 1856, Western Oregon University is public liberal arts college located in Monmouth in central Oregon. A member of the Oregon University System, WOU has become a leader in teacher preparation and liberal arts, offering its 6,600 students bachelor's and master's degrees from the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Moreover, the Rainbow Dance Theater, Regional Resource Center on Deafness, and the Teaching Research Institute are all based on the WOU campus.
