OC&E Woods Line State Trail

OC&E Woods Line State Trail stretches across 105 miles of land from Klamath Falls to the Thompson Reservoir, in the Oregon Cascades. This rail trail was established in 1992 on the old lines of the Oregon, California and Eastern Railroad, becoming the longest state park in the state. Approximately eight miles of the trail is paved making an ideal surface for skating, jogging, bicycling and running.

The rugged trail continues past the historic 1898 steel bridge, through ranch lands, by rivers, forests and past Buttes. Many visitors enjoy riding on horseback, mountain biking and hiking on the trail, through the Winema National Forest. Fishing in the Sprague River is also a favorite activity along the trail. Upper Klamath Lake

Upper Klamath Lake is a natural lake in the Oregon Cascades region, north of Klamath Falls. This beautiful freshwater lake is the largest in the state and one of the largest in the country, at thirty miles long and eight miles wide. The lake remains a vital water source for irrigation in the upper Klamath Basin. Upper Klamath Lake is monitored by the US Fish and Wildlife Service in order to protect the fish populations living in the lake.

The Link River Dam was constructed in 1921 to regulate the water level and to generate power for the Pacific Power and Light projects.
