Pendleton River Parkway

The Pendleton River Parkway is a wonderful walkway along the Umatilla River, in Pendleton. This three-mile flat trail is conducive for a relaxing walk or a short jog, while enjoying the great outdoor of Eastern Oregon. While your walking shoes are still on, enjoy a nice walk at one of the other walking trails at Pendleton parks, including the McKay Neighborhood Park, Pendleton Community Park, Grecian Heights Park and Rice-Blakey Park.

Summer-time fun in Pendleton includes a day at the Pendleton Aquatic Center. Kids love slipping down the tube slides and swimming in the three pools. Stay close to the fun city attractions, as a guest of Best Western hotels, where comfortable lodging and excellent guest services await.

Umatilla National Forest

The Umatilla National Forest is comprised of 1.4 million acres of land in Eastern Oregon, near Pendleton. The diverse landscape of this beautiful forest contains not only the Blue Mountains, but also narrow ridges and grassland ridges, ranging in elevation between 1,600 to 1,800 feet. In 1805, the group of explorers from the Lewis and Clark Expedition, traveled past the forest, on their way to the Pacific Coast.

Visitors to the forest enjoy exploring the 2,000 miles of forest roads and 715 miles of trails, either on foot, mountain bicycle or vehicle. Floating on the Grande Ronde River on a canoe, rowboat, raft or kayak is also a fun way to spend time outdoors.
