Eastern Oregon University began in 1929 as Eastern Oregon Normal School. This Teachers College, located in La Grande, became Eastern Oregon University in 1997. The university is a part of the Oregon University System and is one of Oregon's seven four-year higher education universities funded by the state. It remains Oregon's only public university that does not require a higher tuition for out-of-state or international students. The 1,600 students attending this Eastern Oregon university pursue bachelor's degrees from the College of Business, the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences.
