Amateur athletes mark Lakeview on your calendar for the 2nd Annual It’s About How You Live Sprint Triathlon August 17th. Enter the 2013 events solo or as a team, and new for this year is the option of a Biathlon. The challenge begins at the Lakeview Community Pool Park, starting with the swim segment of 8 laps in the Town of Lakeview Swimming Pool.
Celebrate Abundance is the call for Medford’s 2013 Harvest Festival. Held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds Exposition Park, 5 miles north of Medford off Interstate 5, Harvest Festival is September 20th through 22nd. Enjoy a bounty of fresh southern Oregon produce along with arts and crafts, exhibits and entertainment. Home of the Jackson County Fair, The Expo is located on Peninger Road in Central Point.
The 2013 Southern Oregon Brew Fest also takes place at The Expo during Harvest Festival on September 21st. Beer lovers enjoy over 60 craft beers and a full schedule of live music. Home brewers can show-off their skills at the Brew Fest homebrew competition.
Fifteen miles south of Medford in Ashland, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is in full swing. Summer and fall performances take place in venues near the north end of Ashland’s Lithia Park, just south of E. Main Street. New for 2013, OSF is offering evening performances at 8 P.M. See performances including King Lear, My Fair Lady and the Tenth Muse through November 3rd.
Enjoy summer in Brookings on the southern Oregon coast. The 2013 American Music Festival brings live concerts to Azalea Park throughout the summer season. All concerts are Sunday afternoon and include the Joe Craven Trio on August 25th, and the Water Tower Bucket Boys closing the season on September 15th. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the bandshell in Brookings’ Azalea Park.
