Explore Southern Oregon
Southern Oregon is the ideal destination this winter and holiday season. From Brookings along the coast, to Lakeview near the Fremont National Forest, there is enough to entertain and thrill the entire family.
Head for Brookings and enjoy a festive spectacle of 500,000 holiday lights when you check out Nature’s Coastal Holiday at Azalea Park. Ongoing through Christmas Eve, Nature’s Coastal Holiday at Azalea Park is a nightly event, opening at 5 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m.
If your visit to Brookings is slated for February, be sure to explore the annual Winter Art and Chocolate Festival. A free event held on February 14th and 15th, the Winter Art and Chocolate Festival is one of the premier events in Brookings – you’ll find all the art and chocolate at the Seascape Center.
While Ashland might be known for hosting the annual Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and as the home of Southern Oregon University, there are also a host of exception holiday and winter events in the area. You can check out a live rendition of It’s A Wonderful Life, performed by the Oregon Cabaret Theatre – it runs through New Year’s Eve – or you can see the Camelot Theatre Company perform the classic hit, Fiddler On the Roof.
Only minutes north of Ashland is Medford, another charming and eclectic southern Oregon city. Make plans to visit Medford and check out the Kid Time Discovery Experience with the whole family, or explore the grounds at the RoxyAnn Winery for a taste of locally aged fine wines.
If you’re planning on an early 2015 visit to Medford, be sure to check out the Southern Oregon Wedding Show, held at the Medford Armory on January 17th. An ideal way to spend an afternoon, the Southern Oregon Wedding Show will yield some new and impressive ideas for your upcoming wedding.
As you venture east in southern Oregon, make your way to Lakeview and experience a range of excellent outdoor winter activities. Be sure to visit Warner Canyon Ski Area for top snowboarding runs and Nordic trails. Don’t miss the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, spread across 270,000 acres of land.
