Visiting Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon from the majesty of the Cascade Mountains and Klamath County and the deserts of Lake County is diverse and full of spectacular scenery. Crater Lake National Park’s southern entrance remains open in the winter, accessible from Highway 62. Popular for cross-country and snowmobiling, the winter conditions are ideal. Klamath Falls draws residents and visitors to six Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges and six Upper Basin forest types. The Volcanic Legacy National Scenic Byway outside Klamath Falls is an All American Road traversing Klamath County’s mix of landscapes and natural beauty. For inside activities, the Ross Ragland Theater in Klamath Falls showcases the best of current theater and shows.

Klamath County brings in the New Year with Bullmania 2010 on New Year's Eve. Say goodbye to 2010 with the excitement of bull riding along with wild horse racing and a saddle cow shootout. There will be live music by Smokin Guns to bring in the New Year. This event will be tops if an exciting New Years Eve is what you want - come on out to the Klamath County Fair Grounds.

The Bill Collier Community Ice Arena in Klamath Falls is the ideal spot for winter recreation. Open through March, the regulation size outdoor ice rink offers a full range of skating activities and events. Take a skating lesson, join a hockey team or simply enjoy open skating with friends and family. Be sure to take advantage of the chance to skate when you are in Klamath Falls.

The Klamath Basin Audubon Society hosts the 2011 Winter Wings Festival February 18th through the 20th. This President’s Day Weekend event will be held at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls.
